Summary
As an extension of an earlier work which demonstrated the existence of a current anomaly in the 't Hooft model, the case of a gauge field coupled to a scalar field is considered. It is found that for quantization on the two-dimensional light-cone the same contradiction of the gauge field equations occurs in the scalar case as was found for the spinor field. The calculations are performed in both co-ordinate space and momentum space with verification by the latter approach emerging as a simple consequence of some recently discovered modifications required of propagators in light-cone co-ordinates.
