Conclusions
1. A remote-sensing thermal survey has been performed on the upper part of the first water inlet at the Chirkey HES dam, from which a map has been constructed for the temperature differences in surveys conducted at various times, and in which there is a zone of high thermal inertia in the reinforced concrete facing downwards from the 265 m level.
2. A very likely reason for the high thermal inertia anomaly may be elevated cracking in the reinforced concrete there, and another may be the impregnation of that zone by infiltration from the inner part of the inlet, which may be related to corrosion of the inlet metal pipe.
