Conclusions

A mathematical model is developed for the behavior of a borehole casing strengthened by a cement ring which makes it possible to obtain results which agree qualitatively with an experiment and provide an estimate of the strength of a similar object with incidence on it of a plane blast wave.

1. The presence of divergences between theory and experiment point to the fact that nonlinear models of the soil should be used for adequate description of the interaction of a two-layer cylindrical structure with a soil mass.

2. Results of calculations and experiments showed that longitudinal sections with anglesθ=0 andθ=π are the most critical for a cement ring.

3. On reaching a level of stresses in an incident wave of 25–40% of the compressive strength failure sites may arise in the face and rear points of a borehole with respect to the incident wave front.
