Synthesis of tic — wc solution in hydrogen containing an equilibrium amount of methane

Abstract

A new ecologically pure method for preparing a TiC-WC solid solution in hydrogen containing an equilibrium amount of methane is described. The suggested method provides the requisite content of carbon in TiC-WC with the desired accuracy. The use of a methane —hydrogen medium makes it possible to obtain a solid solution without using carbon black, which eliminates penetration of harmful impurities contained in carbon black into the solid solution; the properties of the hard alloys are improved, and the contamination of the ambient is prevented. An optimum variant for obtaining a TiC-WC solid solution in a methane —hydrogen medium is suggested
