Summary
Twenty-six cases of postvaccinal tetanus have been studied. Tetanus complicated primary vaccination in all cases.Bukka or the ash of cowdung had been applied to the vaccination site in about 42 per cent of the patients. This is believed to have introduced tetanus spores and/or created favourable conditions for such an infection.
Effective health education may prevent this complication.
