Abstract
The best conditions for the instrumental neutron activation analysis of some biosphere samples were determined by the numerical simulation of γ-ray spectra of samples of the specified composition. Certified reference materials of soil (SO-1 ), tobacco leaf (STA-OTL-1 ), carbon dust (FFA-1 ), and river (JSD-1 ) and lake (JLK-1) precipitates were used as test samples. The efficiency of the proposed procedure was demonstrated using advantage factors, which are expressed in terms of the signal-to-background ratio calculated by the proposed and conventional procedures
