Summary
A child with acute DDS poisoning has been presented. The main features were severe cyanosis, and acute neurotoxicity with diffuse central nervous system involvement. Therapy directed towards accelerated urinary excretion of the drug by promoting diuresis and conversion of reduced to oxidised hemoglobin was successful in saving the life of the child. The child was quite normal on follow-up examination three months later.
