The breaking ofSU 3 symmetry in a strong-coupling theory

Summary

With the help ofSU 3 symmetry and strong coupling of an octet of baryons and an octet of scalar mesons the mass breakings of the physical baryon octet and decuplet are computed. The bare baryon masses are assumed not to be broken, but the symmetry breaking is assumed to appear due to a breaking of the masses within the meson octet. In this way the mass breaking due to the medium strongSU 3-breaking interactions and due to the electromagnetic interaction are calculated. If we require that the mass breakings in the octet due to the medium strong interactions agree with reality, then the ratioα=F/(F+D) is fixed and turns out to be about 0.3.

Con l’ausilio della simmetriaSU 3 e l’accoppiamento forte di un ottetto di barioni e un ottetto di mesoni scalari si calcolano le infrazioni di simmetria della massa dell’ottetto e del decupletto di barioni fisici. Si suppone che la simmetria delle nude masse barioniche non siano rotte, e che l’infrazione della simmetria appaia in seguito alla rottura delle masse entro l’ottetto mesonico. Si calcolano così le infrazioni alla simmetria delle masse dovute alle interazioni medio-forti che infrangonoSU 3 e alle interazioni elettromagnetiche. Se richiediamo che le infrazioni delle simmetrie delle masse in un ottetto dovute alle interazioni medio-forti concordino con la realtà, allora il rapportoα=F/(F+D) è fissato e risulta essere circa 0.3.
