Shock compression of porous copper at megabar pressures

Abstract

The results are given of new measurements of shock compression of porous copper specimens in a hemispherical measuring device at megabar pressures. The initial density of the specimens is found to be p00 = 4.465 g/cm3 (porositym = ρ0/P00 = 2.0) and 2.23 g/cm3 (m = 4.0). In a comparable pressure range, the obtained data do not confirm the compression parameters of porous copper known from the previous measurements.
