Magnetic-field effects on the absorption bands of KBr:Tl and KBr:In

Summary

We report the measurements of the magnetically induced circular dichroism in the optical absorption bands of Tl+- and In+-doped potassium bromide crystals performed to test the validity of Cho's theory based on the Jahn-Teller effect. A qualitative analysis of the dichroic signal is given in terms of the changes of the moments of the shape function simultaneously utilizing the theoretical dichroic spectra to determine theg-factors and the electron-lattice coupling coefficients of the centre.
