Interference effect in peripheral production of ρ-mesons

Summary

We show that the observed anisotropies in the Treiman-Yang angle for the reaction π$\mathcal{N}$→2π$\mathcal{N}$ can be accounted for as interference effects between a one-pion-exchange amplitude with form factors and a slowly varying background amplitude: at the same time we explain the dependence of the spin-density matrix elements on the ππ mass.

Si mostra che le anisotropie osservate nell’angolo di Treiman e Yang per la reazione π$\mathcal{N}$→2π$\mathcal{N}$ possono essere attribuite ad effetti d’interferenza tra l’ampiezza di scambio di un pione con fattore di forma ed un fondo lentamente variabile: allo stesso tempo si spiega la dipendenza degli elementi di matrice densità di spin con la massa ππ.
