Summary
Using a pictorial rating scale and two anthropometric measurements (body weight and triceps skinfold) on a selected sample of school children, an attempt was made to develop a suitable index of obesity. Intercorrelations among body weight and triceps skinfold were significant. It was concluded that the pictorial rating scale was dependable in screening obese children and the obesity index was found to be useful.
