Modern concepts in acute rheumatic fever—A review

Summary

Rheumatic fever is caused in a small percentage of persons having a throat infection withHaemolytic streptococci; appears a few weeks after the throat infection; and is thought to be the result of hypersensitivity reaction caused by products elaborated by the streptococci.
