Five-dimensional origin of the massless scalar field

  • Published:
Lettere al Nuovo Cimento (1971-1985)

Summary

By means of the Einstein-Mayer version (1931–32) of the Kaluza-Klein theory it is shown that a massless scalar field can be derived in very much the same way as an electromagnetic gauge field from a five-dimensional formalism. This approach has been figuring prominently in the SUSY models recently.
