Rice water solution in diarrheal dehydration

Abstract

Diarrheal disorders and complications related to diarrhea especially dehydration continue to be a major problem in developing countries like India. Though oral rehydration with salt, sugar and water is a well accepted mode of treatment in uncomplicated cases, still ORS packets (WHO formula) or sugar (sucrose ORS formula) are not readily available in every house or hospital rice water with salt services as an equivalent alternative substitute in the rehydration therapy with good results.
