Summary
We have calculated the cross-section for production of high-energy photons from the reaction ν1+n→ l-+γ+p. We first calculate for point weak interactions and then include the structure effects of the strong interactions on the form factors in two different ways: first by simply multiplying the point amplitude by an appropriate form factor and then by making a model of the form factors and attributing them to meson exchanges. The results for the ratio of the radiative to the « elastic » cross-section are relatively insensitive to the different approximations. Numerical results are given for photon spectra and integrated cross-sections in the case of incident νμ. The cross-section for production of a photon with energy greater than 100 MeV is about 1.5% of the elastic cross-section when averaged over the CERN neutrino spectrum, and about 0.4% for photons with energy greater than 500 MeV.
