The lorentz condition in quantum theory

Summary

The reasons against adopting the Lorentz condition as an operator equation are not serions enough to justify the usual devices for avoiding this. Therefore, electrodynamics has its best foundation in the Landau gauge, in which also the photon propagator is simplest.

Le ragioni contro l’adozione della condizione di Lorentz come una equazione agli operatori non sono abbastanza serie da giustificare i metodi usati per evitarla. PerciÒ, l’elettrodinamica ha le sue più solide basi nel gauge di Landau, in oui inoltre il propagatore fotonico è il più semplice.
