Compound-nucleus radiative capture cross-section in the mev energy-range and nuclear-level density

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

The neutron radiative capture cross-sections in the MeV region for nuclei with neutron number 40 ≤N ≤ 90 are examined on the basis of the statistical model. An energy-dependence of the level density like\(\varrho (\bar U) \propto (A(\bar U + t))^{ - 2} exp [2(a\bar U)^{\tfrac{1}{2}} ]\) is assumed. The a-values obtained from the analysis are compared with those given by the analysis of the level density at binding excitation energy.
