The « clock paradox » of special relativity is studied in the context of general relativity. Reference is made to an example of Tangherlini showing that the prediction of special relativity is not always valid in the general theory. The reasons for this are examined using the methods of the calculus of variations. The significance of conjugate points is discussed.

Si studia, nel contesto della relatività generate, il « paradosso dell’orologio » della relativitá ristretta. Si fa riferimento ad un esempio di Tangherlini che dimostra che le predizioni della relatività ristretta non sono sempre valide nella teoria generale. Se ne esaminano le ragioni col metodo del calcolo variazionale. Si discute il significato dei punti coniugati.
