Summary
A unitary covariant theory for the masses of baryons and pseudoscalar mesons is presented in this paper. The conventional grouptheoretic notion ofexact unitary symmetry is generalized to meanexact unitary covariance for all equations in the theory. Indeed, an exact unitary covariant theory is possible despite the mass differences between the baryons and between the pseudoscalar mesons. It is shown that the particle masses, each accurate to within a few MeV, follow from a simple system of algebraic, unitary covariant equations.

In questo artioolo si presenta una teoria covariante unitaria per le masse dei barioni e dei mesoni pseudoscalari. Si generalizza la nozione convenzionale della teoria dei gruppi dellasimmetria unitaria esatta in modo da significareYesatta covarianza unitaria per tutte le equazioni della teoria. Invero è possibile una esatta teoria covariante unitaria malgrado le differenze di massa fra i barioni e fra i mesoni pseudoscalari. Si dimostra che le masse delle particelle, ognuna esatta entro pochi MeV, sono deducibili con un semplice sistema di equazioni algebriche covarianti unitarie.
