Summary
This paper gives the classical approximation for the change of polarization of a relativistic particle scattered by a central force. It is shown that the polarization precesses about the angular momentum and the problem of finding the total precession angle is reduced to a quadrature. The range of validity of the approximation is discussed and the classical results are compared with the quantum-mechanical results for the Coulomb scattering of a Dirac particle with normal magnetic moment.

Si espone l’approssimazione classica del cambiamento di polarizzazione di una particella relativistica diffusa da una forza centrale. Si dimostra che la polarizzazione ha una precessione attorno al momento angolare, e il problema di trovare l’angolo di precessione totale si riduce ad una quadratura. Si discute il campo di validità dell’appiossimazione e si confrontano i risultati classici con i risultati della meccanica quantistica per lo scattering di Coulomb di una particella di Dirac con momento magnetico normale.
