Conclusion
It is apparent that low levels of immunoglobulins may be transient and physiological in nature, or be the effect of a primary or secondary defect in the number and function of B and/or T lymphocytes. The biological significance of hypogammaglobulinaemia lies in the increased frequency of infections in such individuals, which are amenable to therapy with pooled gamma globulins and treatment of the primary disease process.
