Quantum mechanics of a gravitational antenna

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento B (1971-1996)

Summary

A quantum-mechanical calculation is carried out of the response of arealistic gravitational antenna to an incoming gravitational wave. No appreciable difference is found from the classical calculation of Ruffini and Wheeler. Weber–s contention of a possible large quantummechanical enhancement, though correct in principle, is seen to be totallyunrealistic.
