Summary

One hundred cases of anæmia in infants of Central India, below the age of two years, have been studied clinically and hæmatologically.

History with regard to feeding suggested a deficiency in iron containing foods in most cases.

Amongst the associated conditions present, tuberculosis comprised 30 %, other respiratory infections 22% and diarrhoeas 21%.

Compared to 100 non-anæmic sick infants of the same age group, in this series a distinct preponderance of positive Mantoux reactors was observed.
