Study of positronium in water and ice from 22 to -144 °C by annihilation quanta measurements

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

Measurements on water and ice at several temperatures down to −144 °C have been performed using the standard set-up of the linear detectors of positron annihilation radiation. The nature of the narrow component that changes with temperature or state is studied. The shape of such a component is evaluated by simplified theoretical calculations. Positronium formation and its decay modes are discussed quantitatively.
