Summary
A rare case of primary hepatoma in a child of 2 years is reported with a brief review of the literature. A few speculations have been made in elucidating the undetermined etiology of this condition. It is felt that apart from the possibility of toxic and viral transmission through the placental barrier, the possible role of a genetic factor should not be overlooked in the causation of this type of tumour.
