Summary
It is pointed out that one of the main reasons of the low photovoltaic efficiency of Cu2S/CdS cells, in which the CdS film is deposited by spraying, is due to the very small average dimensions of the CdS crystalline grains which range from 0.1 to 0.5 µm. Since these dimensions increase with the substrate temperature, we have analysed the temperature variations during spraying. By using a very simple model, a significant result has been obtained: the substrate temperature decrease quickly with time during the spraying deposition of the CdS film.
