Fermion-like treatments of fermion pairs

Summary

An equation is presented by which the energy of many-fermion systems can be calculated in such an approximation as the effect of hole-hole interactions is also included besides the particle-particle interactions considered in the Bethe-Goldstone equation. Though we can correctly take account of the effect of hole motions by the Iwamoto equation when the interactions between fermions are repulsive or weakly attractive, we meet the difficulty that some of the eigenvalues become complex when we apply it to a system with strongly attractive interactions. We can completely avoid this difficulty by using our equation.

Si presenta una equazione per mezzo della quale è possibile calcolare l’energia dei sistemi a molti fermioni con una approssimazione tale da eomprendere anche l’effetto delle interazioni buca-buca oltre alle interazioni particella-particella già considerate nella equazione di Bethe-Goldstone. Per quanto con l’equazione di Iwamoto si possa tener conto correttamente dell’effetto del moto delle buche, quando le interazioni fra fermioni sono repulsive o debolmente attrattive si incontra la difficoltà che aleuni degli autovalori diventano complessi quando la applichiamo ad un sistema con interazioni fortemente attrattive. Usando la nostra equazione questa difflcoltà è completamente eliminata.
