A new method to compute kinetic energy, virial mass and angular momentum of elliptical galaxies

Summary

A new method to derive the kinetic energies associated to rotational and random motions from the observed rotation curve and velocity dispersion profile of elleptical galaxies is presented. The method also provides an estimate of the virial mass and of the total angular momentum.
