Summary
If the charge groupU(1) Q as nontrivial «hinge» in the two factor electroweak hypercharge-isospin groupU(1)×SU(2) is minimally realized in isospin doublets, those doublets can have only three hypercharge number assignments—in conventional normalizationy=∓1/2, ±1/6, ±1/4. Well-defined representations of all three groupsU(1) Q andU(1)×SU(2) may be characterized by singlets with respect to a corresponding «colour» groupSU(1/2|2y|)=SU(1),SU(3),SU(2).
