Summary
Nonleptonic hyperon decays are considered using the spurion scheme of brokenU 6,6 symmetry directly and in connection with a pole model. In the pole modelU 6 symmetry-breaking effects are taken into consideration. The model then gives the Lee-Sugawara relation without additional restrictions.

We use standard notation for the decays, the upper sign referring to the charge of the hyperon and the lower to the charge of the final-state pion.
