Hadron-induced cascade showers in lead and iron

Summary

The average development of the hadron-induced cascade showers in lead and iron was calculated three-dimensionally by the Monte Carlo method in the energy region of 1≤ΣE γ≤20 TeV, where ΣE γ denotes the total radiated energy into photons through the nuclear interaction of hadrons with atomic nuclei. It was found that the similarity relation holds in the same manner as in the pure electromagnetic cascade showers and that the energy determination with the track-counting method for hadron-induced cascade showers causes a systematic deviation from the energy originally radiated into photons.
