Studies on optical Čerenkov radiation in association with radiopulses in extensive air showers

Summary

The associated production of radiopulses and optical Čerenkov pulses from extensive air showers (EAS) has been studied. In the present paper, an analysis of the optical-Čerenkov-pulse height distribution is made. A general equation is developed to generate the frequency distribution of the optical Čerenkov radiation from EAS by assuming a direct proportionality between the pulse height and the intensity. The experimental results and the theoretical prediction are compared.
