Flux of medium-energy deuterons at6 m w.e. underground

Summary

The flux of near-vertical deuterons at 6 m w.e. underground with momenta in the range (0.84÷1.15) GeV/c has been measured. The flux is (7.6±2.3)·10−10 deuterons cm−2 s−1 sr−1 (MeV/c)−1. This result is of relevance to searches for new heavy particles in the cosmic rays. The flux of medium-energy tritons is also discussed.

Si è misurato il flusso di deutoni quasi verticale a 6 m a.e. di profondità con impulsi nell’intervallo (0.84÷1.15) GeV/c. Si trova un flusso di (7.6±2.3) 10−10 deutoni/cm2 s sr (MeV/c)−1. Questo risultato è rilevante ai fini delle ricerche di nuove particelle pesanti nei raggi cosmici. Si esamina anche il flusso dei tritoni di media energia.

Измеряется почти вертикальный поток дейтронов с импульсами в области от 0.84 до 1.15 ГэВ/с под землей на глубине 6 м водного эквивалента. Поток составляет (7.6±2.3)·10−10 дейтронов см−2 сек−1 стерадиан−1 (МэВ/с)−1. Этот результат имеет отношение к поискам новых тяжелых частиц в космических лучах. Также обсуждается поток тритонов со средними энергиями.
