Amplitude analyses of π±p scattering and the σ trajectory

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

It is demonstrated that existing amplitude analyses of π±p scattering support the contribution to theI t=0 amplitudes of a σ trajectory in addition to the pomeron and f trajectories.

  18. This phase is consistent with recent dispersion relation studies of π±p elastic scattering which indicate that up to about 100 GeV/c the ratio of the real part to the imaginary part of the forward elastic amplitude is negative and small.
