Discrete cluster mass spectrum

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

The discrete cluster mass spectrum suggested by cosmicray data is discussed within the context of a multistep cluster sequentialdecay model. It is shown that such a picture is compatible with the data on dispersion, provided the mass spectrum is not bounded from above as the energy increases.

  2. The slight discrepancy in the mass value with the accelerator clusters is easily interpreted by the fact that in the cosmic-ray analysis the two-pion component is neglected. This tends to increase the mass estimate. We thank prof.Y. Hama for this comment.
