The study of (Σ-π) resonance at 1405 MeV in emulsions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

The resultant momenta of 154 (Σ-π) pairs produced by K captures in emulsion nuclei have been studied. No evidence for the existence of a sharp (Σ-π) resonance has been observed. The results seem to be in general agreement with the calculations of Adair for the distribution of the resultant (Σ-π) momentum expected from nuclear effects without any resonant interaction. The distribution of the total visible energy of the outgoing particles (T +T π+T recoil) suggests that several states of the recoil are formed from K captures in light emulsion nuclei.
