On the conserved axial-vector current in β-decay

Summary

The connection between nonrenormalization and conservation of an axial-vector current in β-decay is investigated. A simple Ward’s identity is derived, and it is concluded that the Gamow-Teller coupling constant for a conserved axial-vector current remains unrenormalized.

Si studia la connessione fra la non rinormalizzazione e la conservazione di una corrente vettoriale assiale nel decadimento β. Si deduce una semplice identità di Ward, e si conclude che la costante di accoppiamento di Gamow-Teller per una corrente vettoriale assiale conservata rimane non rinormalizzata.
