Production of antideuterons, light nuclei and hyperfragments in high-energy pp-collisions

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

Using the statistical theory of particle production the partial cross-sections for the creation of antideuterons, light nuclei and hyperfragments are calculated. Rough estimates of multiplicities, centre-of-mass energy spectra and lab. Momentum spectra at several angles are given.

  24. It should be mentioned here that from unpublished numerical results of the 25 GeV pp-collision analysis by the statistical theory (9) it can be concluded thatat this energy ≈ 97.7% of all deuterons are created along with an antibaryon (if the statistical theory is able to describe this process). Since the antibaryon production is, for the above explained reasons, 10 times smaller than predicted, the same should happen to the deuterons. Hence the numbers predicted for 25 GeV (not those for 2.3 GeV) in ref. (4) should be too large by a factor 10. It would be interesting to check this experimentally.
