Abstract
Glasses in the LiB3O5-Pr2O3 system are investigated. The absorption spectra, Faraday effect, and magnetic circular dichroism are measured. The effective wavelength of the transition predominantly contributing to the Faraday effect is determined. The intensities and magnetooptical parameters of thef-d andf-f transitions are compared.
