Production of excited states

Summary

The current experimental status of the production of excited states for hadrons containing a heavy quark (c/b) is reviewed. In the charm meson system all six expectedP-wave narrow states (1+, 2+) have been identified and their masses and widths have been measured. In the case of bottom mesons the picture is less complete. Recent observations of kinematic and charge correlation of B mesons with charged pions and kaons by the LEP experiments are consistent with the picture ofP-wave resonances of b/light-quark states. Finally the present situation of excited c- and b-baryons will be described.
