Magnetic moments of Ω and other baryon decuplet

Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

We calculate the magnetic moments of a baryon octet and predict those of a baryon decuplet, on the basis of the outward effective quark massq B1 =q 1+(B−77[J(J+1)−3/4]−(q 1+q 2+q 3)) in the staticSU(6) quark model. The flavourSU(3)F symmetry-breaking effects remove very well the insufficiency of the staticSU(6) model within the experimental and theoretical errors. It results in the value of −2.07 nuclear magneton (nm) for the Ω magnetic moment without theSU(3)F symmetry-breaking effects, compared with recent precise experimental values (−2.024±0.056) nm. The result is also compared with those of the static constituent-quark model, together with those of other models.
