Nuclear inelastic-scattering cross-section for transitionsL=2 and 3 in the strong-absorption model

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

Austern and Blair have established the connection between inelastic and elastic nuclear scattering of strongly absorbed particles in the adiabatic approximation. Simple closed expressions again in the adiabatic approximation, under strong absorption condition, for the inelastic-scattering cross-section are obtained and made explicit by Potgieter and Frahn; these expressions are analogous to the strong-absorption model formulae for elastic scattering. We derive the inelastic-scattering cross-section for transitionsL=2 and 3 using their general formulations and test the derived formulae with experiments.
