Summary
The four-dimensional position operator obtained previously for conformally invariant field theory can be also used when the conformal symmetry is broken. If one uses the symmetry-breaking scheme based on the notion of complex dimensionalities it is shown that for the scalar free field with mass our position operator coincides with the Newton-Wigner operator. The generalized free fields with the Breit-Wigner mass spectrum are considered from the point of view of localization in time.
