Summary
Extending Jauch’s procedure to particles with spin, we obtain the most general spin-dependent Hamiltonian; gauge invariance and dimensional arguments reduce it to the usual Pauli one, allowing thus a generalization of the minimal coupling rule, in the case of Galilean electromagnetic interactions. We also show, giving a counter-example, that gauge invariance is not implied by Galilean invariance.
