Summary
We study a class of models for many-particle production which are based on the sequential decay of fireballs with a strongly anisotropic distribution of the decay products. We derive, using an exact kinematical formalism, expressions for physically interesting distributions in terms of the solution of a basic integral equation which contains a convolution over the Lorentz group. Then we propose a useful approximate treatment based on the replacement ofSL 2,c by its contractionE 2,c justified by the limitation of the transverse momenta. We describe a class of representations of this group and we use them for the harmonic analysis of the basic equations of the model.
