Nucleon-nucleon scattering lengths and Padé approximants

Summary

Within the framework of Padé approximants, we propose a method to calculate the nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitude that eliminates the problem associated with the wrong threshold behaviour of the one-pion-exchange contribution. We apply this method to calculate scattering lengths, using Yukawa theory and the linear and nonlinear σ-models. We find good agreement with experiment, in particular for the Yukawa model and nonlinear σ-models.

Nello schema degli approssimanti di Padé, si propone un metodo per calcolare l’ampiezza dello scattering nucleone-nucleone che elimina il problema associato all’errato comportamento di soglia del contributo dello scambio di un pione. Si applica questo metodo al calcolo della lunghezza di scattering, facendo uso della teoria di Yukawa e dei modelli σ lineare e non lineare. Si trova un buon accordo con gli esperimenti, in particolare per il modello di Yukawa ed i modelli σ non lineari.

В рамках приближений Падз мы предлагаем метод вычисления нуклон-нуклонной амплитуды рассеяния, который исключает проблему, свяэанную с неправильным пороговым поведением вклада от обмена одним пионом. Мы применяем зтот метод для вычисления длин рассеяния, испольэуя теорию Юкавы и линейную и нелинейную σ-модели. Мы получаем хорощее согласие с зкспериментом, в частности, для модели Юкавы и нелинейной σ-модели.
