High-energy phenomenology of π and K forward scatteringforward scattering

Summary

Recently proposed Regge-pole models are tested by means of FESR in π scattering. The crossing odd amplitude does not require more sophisticated models than the pure ρ-exchange model. In the crossing even case, several models can reproduce the data within the same accuracy. We also analyse the K total cross-sections and find that a conventional model allows us to fit the data within the errors (both statistical and systematic).

  13. The physical Kd scattering amplitude differs from that of eq. (1′) by the Glauber correction term (12); however, by our notation we want to stress that when one considers the (V±ω) amplitudes the experimental data are to be given an error of the same order as that of Kd data, and not that obtained by combining the errors on Kp and Kn data (6).

  19. The idea that the Born term should be subtracted out from the FESR when they are analysed in terms of Regge poles was first proposed byFerrari andViolini (17) on the basis of a phenomenological analysis of the crossing-odd π scattering amplitude. A recent paper byChavda (18) gives further support to this proposal.
