Direct-channel analysis of the predictions of a crossed-channel theory

Summary

The total cross-sections of various MM, MB, BB and B\(\overline B \) processes calculated by Horwitz and Rosner using the CHKN fit are expanded in terms of the imaginary parts of the forward elastic direct-channel amplitudes withSU 3 Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. It is consistent to assume that the energy-dependent parts of the amplitudes areSU 3 invariant, while theSU 3 violating parts are essentially constant background contributions. The changes of thes-channel amplitudes in energy are calculated; the results are consistent with what would be expected from considerations of duality.
