Summary
The two-particle Dirac equation and aV — A interaction are used as a semi-relativistic description of the quark-antiquark boundstate problem. With the help of specific examples—the square-well and the Gaussian potentials—we investigate how strong a binding may be obtained. Choosing reasonable values for the coupling strength and for the range of the Gaussian potential we find a mass of the pion of the right order of magnitude.
